Telemetry | - Iridium SBD with Iridium 9602 Modem
- Globalstar Smartone C
|
Positioning | - Multi-constellation GNSS receiver supports GPS and other GNSS constellations depending on receiver configuration.
- GNSS acquisition windows are optimized for low-power operation and may be extended upon request to improve fix reliability or enable augmentation features where available, with a corresponding reduction in battery life.
|
Available Battery Packs | - 8" - 12V 8x2 C-Cell (15.6 Ah)
- 14" - 12 V; 8S4P alkaline D cells; estimated 56 Ah capacity
- 16" - 12 V; 8S4P alkaline D cells; estimated 56 Ah capacity
- 16" (optional) - 12 V; 8S8P alkaline D cells; estimated 112Ah capacity
- 18" - 12 V; 8S8P alkaline D cells; estimated 112Ah capacity
- 18" (optional) - 12 V; 8S12P alkaline D cells; estimated 168Ah capacity
|
Battery Lifespan | - Operating life: Variable (6-60 months) depending on sampling/transmission rate and field conditions. Harsh weather or rough seas can increase GPS acquisition time and transmission retries, reducing battery life.
|
Standard Status Sensors | - Battery Voltage
- GNSS Positions (GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo)
- Deployment Status (drifter in or out of water)
|
Optional Status Sensors | |
Optional Sensors | - Sea Surface Temperature (SST)
- Air Pressure
- Sea Surface Salinity
|
Sampling Period | - Variable: 5 minutes to 12 hours
- Commandable: Change the period after deploying
|
Power Mode Switch | - A magnet, held in place with a sponge or hook-and-loop strap, switches the drifter from low-power mode to deployment mode when removed. The magnet, held in place by a sponge, falls off when the drifter is deployed in water.
